Special characteristics products require special equipments and vehicles in handling and transporting products. These equipments and vehicles are normally expensive and specifically designed to use for a particular product only. Moreover, it is not easy to hire these equipments and vehicles from outside suppliers since they must be available at the right time. With these constraints, the utilization of a special-purpose vehicle is normally low. Consequently, this problem adds extra costs to the products. It results in poor company’s competitiveness. Hence, these equipments and vehicles must be utilized to enhance the company’s serviceability and generate lower costs. Objectives of this research are (i) to identify the sources of poor vehicle’s utilization, (ii) to construct a model to measure the utilization, and (iii) to suggest effective solution in order to enhance utilization. In this research, the actual case in gas manufacturing plant is implemented while the AweSim® software is used to measure the utilization.
